Help Advance Transformative Higher Learning

The International Council for Accreditation and Innovation of Transformative Schools (ICAITS) is a faith-based Council that exists to assure Learners of high quality Transformative Learning by (1) elevating accountability and transparency of its institutions, (2) encouraging innovation and disruption in higher education systems for continuous improvement, and (3) empowering sustainable models for Transformative Higher Learning.

I. Shared Transformative Philosophies and Commitments

ICAITS represents a coalition of likeminded institutions sharing values and philosophies of transformative learning, with a commitment to mutually benefitting each other.

II. Representative Council of Participating Transformative Higher Ed Leaders

While at least 60% of the ICAITS Governing Board are independent, up to 40% of the Governing Board seats are held by representatives of participating institutions. This ensures shared governance, a high degree of peer review accountability, and helps ICAITS adapt more quickly to innovations at the institution level.

ICAITS facilitates the power of shared services for the sustainability of member institutions and to promote maximum learner access to resources smaller institutions might otherwise not be able to provide.

IV. Recognition and Promotion of Innovative Corporate Structures and Governance

ICAITS recognizes the potentially innovative value of unique corporate structures, such as church-based governing boards, private ownership governance, and para-church organization leadership in higher education. These structures present unique challenges, requiring high standards of transparency and accountability.

V. Recognition and Promotion of Innovative Staffing and Faculty Structures

In order to maximize learner success, institutional sustainability, and excellence in transformative higher learning, ICAITS encourages innovative staffing and faculty structures. While staffing with full-time equivalent roles have been the traditionally accepted approach, ICAITS recognizes the success that leading institutions have had with alternative models. ICAITS quantifies excellence through activities and outcomes, rather than by the FTE measurement.

VI. Sustainable Financial Accountability Models

ICAITS promotes sustainability of smaller schools by maximizing accountability and transparency through peer reviewed financial statements, with annual financial reports published on the ICAITS website.
